HOUSTON METRO SCOUT LEAGUE

League Info
  • The league will be selecting 108 of the best 17 and 18 year old baseball players in the Houston Area.
  • There will be a maximum of six teams with each team consisting of 18 players.
  • All Games are on Sunday starting Sept. 20 through Oct. 18.
  • With an All Star team to be selected to play in post-season tournaments.
  • Coaches from Angelina College, Alvin College and San Jacinto College will attend Sunday games to evaluate players.
  • All games will be played at Baseball USA in the Stadium.
  • Wood Bat League
  • Six teams playing each team one time in a doubleheader. (10 games)
  • Teams will be selected by a random drawing with the focus on you as an individual player.
  • Open tryouts for players not invited by the league will be held in the stadium at Baseball USA on Sunday, August 30th at 10:00 am for pitchers and catchers and 12:30 pm for position players.
  • Players will furnish their own white baseball pants, wood bat and batting helmet.
  • Cost for playing in the league is $525 per player.
Games
  • The doubleheaders are 12 straight innings. (This league is a spring training format with speed-up rules)
  • High School Baseball Rules are used.
  • Teams bat the entire line-up of position players.
  • All pitches will be charted.
  • Each inning is 3 runs or 3 outs or 20 pitches plus one batter by the pitcher.
  • 10 second rule between innings.
  • Players can not leave their team or the games until the game is completed.
  • Absolutely no arguing with the umpires.
What each player receives
  • A paid coach for each team.
  • Each player will receive a team jersey, black cap, black belt and black socks.
  • College coaches will be assigned to each team to prepare weekly individual evaluations.
  • Individual evaluations will be sent to each player at the end of the season.
  • The league schedule and rosters will be sent to all area college coaches and the area pro scouts.
  • Scout Day for league participants with area pro scouts will be held the last weekend.
Tryouts

Open tryouts will be for those players not invited by the league.
Sunday, August 30th, Baseball USA Stadium
10:00 am pitchers and catchers
12:30 pm position players
